Drawn by Pain Screening Part Deux

I'm sorry that this a duplicate of a previous discussion made a few months back, but unfortunately some complications came up and the discussion had to be remade again.

In this discussion we are talking about possible dates for the screening, hotel choices, travel arrangements for those who need help and activities to do while in New York. This screening is to not only celebrate the completion of the Drawn by Pain series with friends who share the same enthusiasm, but to also show support for Jes, Erica and the entire crew for their hard work over the last few years to produce a piece of work that has earned them the Peoples' Choice Webby Award.

In the previous discussion, we had spoke of September being the possible month for the screening and now that Jes has determined it will be in late September, as of now, we will need to start getting more people involved to make this event even better than the last.

For those who are planning to attend, please state if you are going so we can get a proper head count, this also includes all those who had stated they were going in the previous discussion. All information was lost and we will need to have everyone who participated in the original discussion to repost.

Sorry for the inconvienence this has caused and please be patient as we try to get things planned and organized for the second part of Drawn by Pain in New York.

It's a secret.

If that info was given out now....well....you would be terminated.

I'm not mad at you Jes, I don't blame you. I'm just frustrated because I have to plan so far in advance.

It's not "procedure" it's that there are 50 of us in the department and only two people cam be off at the same time. As it was I had to switch from PM to AM shifts and then have somebody work for me, it's complicated. I haven't done anything yet so as soon as we have this nailed down I will check the calendar again and talk to Melissa (who is working for me) and see if I can swing the time off. Even with that though there is still money for a ticket, money for a room, money for food. I really want to come but I don't know what I can work.

so the company is like "Control"? sweet. I just knew the spy world sponsored people.

Will look at getting time off from work..can be a little dodgy as there can only be 1 of us off at a time... but when I asked about my vacation time remaining the HR lady laughed and said.. "you have a lot - take a vacation".

so pending further details I still hope to attend. Which means... where the eff are people staying?

I'll try to take some time off and make it to this one. Only thing is, I would definately need to share a room with someone. Not a problem for me, but just saying (obviously, I would put up my share of money, too).

Hotel accomodations will be discussed once the date is confirmed. Right now we are just getting a head count of those who are or might be coming.

The Panamerican is a possibility since most of us were there last year, but myself and I believe a few other people are looking into cheaper and possibly closer hotels. If possible, we may want to see if we can get a hotel close to the theater....but we won't be able to discuss this until we know which theater.

So for now we are just handling one thing at a time. Go ahead and start considering who you would like to room with. When the time comes we will discuss it, but for now we are just focusing on getting the date closed and making sure the theater Jes is booking will be secured.

Panamerican is fine but i doubt we will find anything that's cheaper than that, NYC isn't a cheap place to stay anywhere. Yea, something closer to the event would be nice but imo not necessary. But since this is only a few months away now i need to know dates ASAP since i don't have the leeway and freedoms with the newer job i have these days, only a few of us can be off on a given week. Plus this year i don't know if i want to book a hotel or not, was kinda expensive last year as it was. But i will if i have to. But i am definitely lookin for someone to room with to split costs or help someone that already got a room. Plus the longer we wait for dates, the price of airfare keeps goin up by the day too.

As it was mentioned before, we understand the need to know dates as soon as possible and we are trying to get those dates once they are secured. The situation is a little complicated as Jes has explained and he does understand the need for those who need to start getting time off now.

So for those who are needing to know ASAP, we understand your need, but please be patient and know that we do understand that you need to know to get the dates off from work.

As for flight costs, no matter what they are going to continue to raise. You have multiple charges now on not only the tickets, but for your carry ons and snacks on the flight....along with whatever else. Due to the economy the tickets will constantly be going up in price. Doesn't matter how soon you can get them, but that is an issue with the economy going bad and the airports raising prices to accomodate their own coverage.

The sooner is better in my opinion, but keep in mind that the economy is the biggest problem with prices raising as fast as they are. Even though you may get your tickets cheap now, by the time you go to check in for your flight they may put extra charges on top of that depending on what the airports decide to charge more of. This is just something to keep in mind.

But please understand the situation Jes is dealing with in getting the dates as soon as he can.

Um....ask him?

It would be better to send him a message on here since it does go straight to his email. I don't know how often he comes to the Forum to read the messages.
