Drawn by Pain Screening Part Deux
I'm sorry that this a duplicate of a previous discussion made a few months back, but unfortunately some complications came up and the discussion had to be remade again.
In this discussion we are talking about possible dates for the screening, hotel choices, travel arrangements for those who need help and activities to do while in New York. This screening is to not only celebrate the completion of the Drawn by Pain series with friends who share the same enthusiasm, but to also show support for Jes, Erica and the entire crew for their hard work over the last few years to produce a piece of work that has earned them the Peoples' Choice Webby Award.
In the previous discussion, we had spoke of September being the possible month for the screening and now that Jes has determined it will be in late September, as of now, we will need to start getting more people involved to make this event even better than the last.
For those who are planning to attend, please state if you are going so we can get a proper head count, this also includes all those who had stated they were going in the previous discussion. All information was lost and we will need to have everyone who participated in the original discussion to repost.

I wouldn't mind sharing a room with yous again Carla. I had fun last time....although I never slept on you.....can I make it up this time around?
That is....only if you would have me =P
And in regards to the DVDs.....that is Jes' plan. He wants to have everything ready for the screening so that means the shirts will be available, DVDs will be up for purchase (if they are done in time), probably some of the business cards and whatever else he decides to throw in.

I need some more business cards... I handed all mine out. I also need another shirt. wearing the one i have once a week or so isn't enough for me.

We will start discussing the roommate situation once we get final word on the screening as to whether we got the date secured or if we are going to have to plan for another time (hoping this is not the case).
But go ahead and start thinking about who you would like to room with and when the time comes we will discuss that so there are no confusions as to who is in which room. We are going to try to avoid last minute changes if at all possible.

So on RvB it Jes says the 27th and here he says the 21st. I got the 21st off so if I need to re rearrange things I need to know ASAP

Yeah, I just now noticed that too.....let me find out or get Jes in here so there is some clarification on if it's going to be the 21st or the following weekend of the 27th.
I know people need to start knowing the dates asap, but please try to be patient as things get cleared up. I know several people need to know way ahead of time to get the dates they need, but remember that things can change at the last minute due to unforseen events.
As soon as I get an answer I will let everyone know which is the correct date.

Okay, so the date of the screening has changed to the 27th.

I understand people are trying to get dates off as soon as possible, but for right now that is the tentative date. Please continue to plan that the screening will be at the end of September and as soon as the date is confirmed, it will be posted so people can start planning asap.
Again, the date of the screening has changed from the 21st to the 27th as the tentative date. If possible, please hold off submitting your request for time off of work until we can get an official confirmation. Last thing we want to see happen is people getting time submitted to then have the date changed and people unable to go.

Well, if I have to wait any longer I won't be there. I guess we'll count me out and I'll cancel my current request for the wrong weekend.

Jes is trying to get dates as fast as he can....
Curious though....just for the heck of it....once we get the official date go ahead and try putting it in for consideration. I know you have to do it in advance because of several people possibly wanting the same date or it's procedure to request your time 2-3 months ahead, but just go ahead and try requesting the date once we know and see if you get it. If not then at least you had already planned in the possibility in not going. I honestly see nothing to lose if you go ahead and just try.
Like I said, if it is procedure to do it 2-3 months ahead, then I can understand that issue.

This is where we currently stand. As I am dirt poor and begging for change to pay rent - I couldn't plan the event without knowing that it could be paid for :)
Thankfully - a company who is uber awesome is helping to sponsor the event, but requested that the date be moved to the weekend of the September 27-28 - more to come on them etc. In the vein of making this thing work - I agreed which I apologize if it thru anyone off.
Now that the funding is in place - the last thing to do is lock the venue which requires a deposit (complicated I know!). I have a call into a place that looks promising for a larger venue:

But I need to hear back from them and a few others before I can lock the date for sure. It would suck to have everyone show up and have no where to screen. So please have patience - I will update as soon as we have a place to screen (or at least a backup).

Thanks for a little bit of clarification Jes. I'll go ahead and start planning some of my trip now so i have less to stress about later. But one things bothering me... who is this mystery company you speak of?
