Been Away

So....I haven't really said much since the screening. Bad on me.

I have been checking into the chat periodically, sadly, no people.

Just a few updates from me, I have sent out Christmas cards today....they will be a little on the late side and I am sorry for that. Things have taken off on me in life and they required attention first.

Currently having some worries over my job. Due to the nice California Budget Crisis going on.....I could lose my job since I am still only a temp-full time employee with the city. The department I am with is trying to keep me as long as they can, but with things now up in the air.....it's really hard to say what is going to happen. Hell....I could get notice tomorrow that due to cuts being made, most temp employees need to go. That is how bad it's gotten.

This whole situation is like watching a train wreck in slow motion......*sigh*

I definitely have to say that California is not the place to be right now if you are looking for work.

I am currently still trying to recover my finances after the NY trip.....and being hounded down to attent future trips. Example being Toronto in July, but that is iffy right now since it's gonig to cost me close to $2,000. Yeah....ouch. So I am playing it by ear.

But I thought I would just let people know I be alive and well....not to mention prowling the chat every now and then checking for signs of life.

Hope everyone has some cool plans for the holidays and people stay safe.

Comment by Camael on December 23, 2008 at 2:27pm: Luckily my job isn't seasonal. The only way I have a chance in getting a perm position with the city is to be a temp and then be hired within. There are people in my department that were temps for 2 years before an opening came up for the same department or another location in the city. Normally the temp contract is one year, but the department I'm with tends to fudge on the time to keep the help they need.

as far as I am concerned, you have until January 6th for a Christmas card to reach its destination and have it not be considered late.

Unfortunately, no where is a good place to be when trying to find a job right now; but I also look at it as being, this isn't really the time of year you want to look because it mainly all seasonal which will be cut after the holiday season is over and the mid-winter slump comes forth.
