Just got back from one of the few screenings of this film in my state and, wow, it was, ummmm..... I don't really have words for it. It's a story of a man greedy for oil. It starts out in the 1890's digging in a mine shaft. He falls down on a broken ladder and finds oil. He has a son who is his business partner. Then the story passes to 1911. A man named Paul tells Daniel of a place where oil is coming up through the grounds. Daniel travels to that area and buys the whole town up and starts to dig for oil. He finds it and soon becomes filled with greed and doesn't want any competition. He will not stand for any competition.
It was awkward that I was the only person under 20 in the theater. It made me feel more mature, IDK. It was a good movie. The last half hour did not need to be in the film because it could have ended before but it added to the story so I found it somewhat good.
On another note, it was filmed in the same place as No Country for Old Men so it looked amazing with the scenery and stuff.
The music was actually really good. It was all instrumental and orchistral (sp?) It felt like I was there due to most of the music. Really good.
Plus, the trailer only shows about the first 1 hour and 30 minutes.
The acting is also top notch. I have never, NEVER seen better acting
Go see it when it comes out. Oh, and make sure you don't drink anything before, it is 2 hours and 40 minutes long. I didn't have too go which made it much better
