I have determined that my life IS Office Space. I will explain:

I work north of Dallas, the location of Initech in the film, and work in IT as a Programmer/Analyst, much like Peter Gibbons. I have a couple of friends that I work with who also hate their meaningless jobs. I have a roommate who is a lot like Peter's neighbor Lawrence. My boss, who is a female in the live action version of the film, asks me to work Saturdays, and work late most nights. She is at the mercy of our consultants, and rejects all original ideas from actual employees to follow the consultants, and justifies it kindly by trying to point out our 'lack of expertise,' just because we don't spew bullshit out of our mouths all day, and do actual work(wondering why I hate my job yet?) They 'encourage' original thinking and great ideas, but they all hit a wall somewhere, and you're further back than where you started, and a little more dead inside. I die a little more each day because the people I work with don't "get it," they don't understand the things they make decisions about, but feel they have the knowledge to criticize the opinions of myself and others with legitimate solutions to problems, and end up not making any sense and putting us further behind. Peter's line during hypnotherapy sums it all up best, "So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life." I have stopped caring about the work that I have done for the past four years, and I don't like the feeling. There is no motivation to keep going, our promised pay increase didn't happen, the new ideas and projects we were going to be working on are being taken apart one budget account at a time, I am moving the day before I leave for NY because my roommate didn't extend our lease for an extra month since he has a new job and is now moving. At the moment, life sucks, I am hoping it will start to improve soon! On the the side of the fence with the somewhat greener grass, since my last rant about work I have been pretty aggressively looking for a new job, and have an interview tomorrow. Cross those fingers for me!

I'll stop complaining now and get excited to see everybody in NY! :) I'm not going to let anyone or anything ruin this trip. See you in 2 WEEKS!
